“Visitors to Hofstra Park in Prospect Park will be greeted by a municipally-commissioned mural, a multi-flag art installation called "One Humanity" which was designed by Christopher Pico, a graduate of Eastern Christian High School.”

PROSPECT PARK, NJ

HOW DID IT ALL HAPPEN?

“Pico had used the community project as an independent study project in his senior year.  Halls That Inspire said that this particular art concept, which incorporates the Statue of Liberty along with flags representing the diverse backgrounds of Prospect Park's residents, is the first-ever of its kind in New Jersey and, as far as they are aware, the Tri-State Area.”

THE IMPACT

The fact that our one square mile town has sixty–five national backgrounds was the inspiration for this amazing mural," said Mayor Khairullah. "Prospect Park is a haven for many emigrants who settle in our community to build their American dream. We are proud to be an example of how welcoming and inspiring the American spirit can be. We invite residents of our county, state, and fellow Americans to visit this beautiful work of art.

Mayor Mohamed Khairullah

The purpose, the mayor said, "is to capture the rich cultural heritage, diversity, and representation of the Borough’s residents currently living in our municipality."

About PROSPECT PARK

"Not only has the Borough captured their identity with this art mural, but the municipality has led their mantra via action by partnering with local schools such as Prospect Park School No. 1, Manchester Regional High School, and Eastern Christian High School to kick off this project via a youth-based community service project," Chowdhury said.
